Graeme K Whippy
Disability consultant
Graeme is a disability consultant who helps organisations become excellent employers for disabled people. He is an expert in IT Accessibility and was recognised for his work in this field with the award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual at the UK Financial Sector Technology awards in 2009. In 2010 he wrote the procurement annex for BS 8878, a British Standard on Web Accessibility. His other key achievements include creating an award-winning approach to making workplace adjustments (reasonable accommodations) for disabled employees and leading the creation of the Dementia Friendly Financial Services charter whilst representing the UK banking sector on the Prime Minister’s Dementia Challenge 2012-15. He was commissioned by Channel 4 Television in 2016 to become their disability consultant to help them become an exemplar employer for disabled people, building upon their already excellent reputation for representing disability on-screen and creating change in the media sector. Graeme was awarded an MBE in 2016 for his services to people with dementia and disabilities.
