Judge rules supermarket chain must make web site accessible

Winn-Dixie, a Jacksonville, Florida-based supermarket chain, has set aside $250,000 to revamp its online site after a Miami federal judge has ruled that it has violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by not making its website accessible to blind and visually impaired users. 


State allocates R477m to pupils with disabilities

Disability rights advocates in Southeast Asia are urging member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations to invest in empowering the estimated 17 million people with disabilities in the region by highlighting the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific’s report which shows that an accessible and inclusive economic environment for people with disabilities could increase the GDP of member states of about 1% to 7% and an increase in the GDP-PPP of approximately $80 billion for the region.
